Downtown Grocery Quest

Don’t know where to get your groceries in Downtown Kitchener? We’ll introduce you to at least eight different places that will meet your daily sustenance needs!

Grocery Store shelves with produce at Marche Leo's

A lot of people say, “I wish there was a grocery store in Downtown Kitchener!” Well, there is…a whole bunch of them, in fact!

This Downtown Grocery Quest walking tour introduces you to the independent and locally owned food shopping options in Downtown Kitchener, including green grocers, bulk goods, hyper-locally sourced produce, and farm growers.

After this walk you’ll know a collection of unique groceries to provide you with daily staples and speciality food items for special occasions.

Start making that grocery list, we’re going shopping!

**Please Note: These walking tours are geared for adults. We won’t have time to stop & shop but you will get to meet some of the business owners and visit each location so you can return later.

Led by: Juanita Metzger

Accessibility: Route follows paved surfaces on city sidewalks. Route is adapted around construction. **Several businesses have stairs into their front entrance and may not be accessible by scooter or wheelchair.

Downtown Grocery Quest Walking Tour Details

Thank you!
This walking tour is generously sponsored by the Downtown Kitchener Business Improvement Area, which makes it free for you!

Of course, we have the obligatory Liability Waiver and Release form that must be signed by each person in advance of joining the walk.  Why a waiver for a walking tour, you ask? Couldn’t get insurance without it. Stroll pays insurance… you sign the waiver.

A sense of curiosity, a few questions and a willingness to learn something you didn’t know before.

Of course, dress for the weather; bring a hat, water bottle, umbrella, solid walking shoes (no flip flops!) and anything else you need to be comfortable on the walk.

We walk rain or shine or snow!

However, we do heed storm watches and warnings and would never put you in danger. Stroll may cancel and reschedule a walk due to an issued weather advisory.

We don’t make scheduled bathroom breaks along the walking route. Please attend to personal needs before or after the walking tour.

Absolutely! The walking tour guides have chosen routes with the best possible accessibility in order to accommodate as many people as possible. However, construction happens and we do our best to re-route safely.

If you have any questions about the accessibility of a specific walk, please contact us in advance of booking.

We’ll say it again… Always arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of time! If you arrive exactly at departure time, you’re already late! If you arrive really late, your walking tour will have started without you. We start right on time so that we finish on time & respect the fact that people have things to do after the walking tour.

At the end of the walking tour, you’ll get a Downtown shopping & dining guide and a 2023 calendar of events taking place in DTK so you won’t miss all the cool things coming up and you can find all your new favourite locations!
