Did you know that King Street in Uptown Waterloo used to be a manufacturing district? Did you know that you can see FOUR buildings on ONE street corner that have received the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture?

We’ll look at and talk about the built city in its solid form, aka, buildings and their uses. We’ll read the city’s structures and styles to create a streetside timeline in the mind’s eye. We’ll discuss ‘places and precincts’ and consider buildings that no longer exist and others that hint at a former use.

Chances are you will learn some new architectural terms, spot buildings or details you’ve never noticed before and form some new opinions about the city space we encounter every day, but less often ponder.

Buildings come and go, architectural styles change and everyone has an opinion about it!

In fact, we go waaaaaay beyond AI summaries!
If you’ve ever been on one of our walking tours, you’ll know that we love going for the deep cuts on people, stories, events, and historical happenings and stitching it all together in our signature style!

People have asked me whether I think AI will eventually replace our walking tours.

I’m not worried about that one bit.

Until AI can walk into a library, read old archive and print files, write a creative and engaging tour and map out the perfect route to tie all the stories together like someone who lives in the neighbourhood where it all takes place… well, when that happens, I’ll be long retired from my career!

We’ve had such glorious weather for all 3 of our Women’s HERstory walking tours in October 🍂 🍁 It felt magical to stroll and connect with so many guests in the afternoon sunshine & crunchy leaves, to overhear people talking about women in their circles who have had an impact on their lives and listen to their excitement at learning about women of Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge that were new to their knowledge.
Everyone is excited to share these women’s stories with friends and families!

Actually Stroll quietly turned 5 at the end of August but I was so busy fine tuning our new women’s HERstory tours that I got behind with sewing my new ‘uniform’!
Ta-da! It’s complete, so now I can really celebrate 😊

Year 5 has been a strange one with 2025 being unpredictable and slow in bookings. But I committed to investing in and launching three new women’s herstory tours 💕 It’s been a longtime goal to see these happen and the timing was right, if not overdue!
However, I’m eternally grateful to each and every person and group that booked a Stroll this year - you make this small business owner do a happy dance each time you book 🪩

I’m strolling into year 6, thinking about plans for our next evolution, and my next outfit!
